Singular Photonics is entering its next phase of growth.

We’re pleased to see Quantum Exponential portfolio company Singular Photonics close an oversubscribed $2.15 million funding round, led by ACF Investors alongside Wren Capital, Cambridge Angels, Scottish Enterprise, Quantum Exponential and Old College Capital.

The funding comes at an important point in the company’s commercial development. Singular has already doubled its full-year 2025 sales in 2026 to date, with growing customer engagement across machine vision, industrial automation, scientific discovery, medical imaging and physical AI.

At the heart of Singular’s technology are SPAD-based image sensors. Unlike conventional image sensors, SPADs can detect and precisely time individual photons, opening the door to imaging systems capable of capturing information that traditional cameras cannot.

Singular is taking this further by integrating advanced on-chip computation, enabling data to be processed closer to where the light is detected. This has the potential to deliver smaller, faster and more efficient sensing systems for increasingly demanding AI and edge-computing applications.

The company has also strengthened its board with the appointment of Dr Dipesh Patel, former CTO of Arm, bringing extensive semiconductor and technology leadership experience as Singular scales.

For Quantum Exponential, Singular Photonics exemplifies the opportunity at the intersection of quantum technologies, photonics, sensing and advanced semiconductor technology: deep technical capability combined with clear commercial momentum.

A significant milestone for the Singular team, and an exciting next stage for the company.
